Wichita Falls Gears Up for Nighthawks Championship [VIDEOS]

The Wichita Falls Nighthawks are gearing up for their Championship game this Sunday. The team, which is undefeated so far, will go up against the West Texas Drillers. General Manager Jerry Hughes promised a great season, and they’ve definitely delivered.

Festivities will begin at Memorial Stadium on Sunday, June 9, at noon. At that time the gates will open, and people are welcome to come out and enjoy tailgating with their friends and fellow fans. Bring your grill, something to eat, and your favorite Nighthawks gear! At 3:00pm we’ll see kickoff and what is sure to be a fantastic game.

Tickets are just $10 and can be purchased in advance or at the door. You can make that purchase at the Nighthawk office in Parker Square or on their Web site, and you can follow the Nighthawks on Facebook.

If you’ve missed out on the Nighthawks frenzy, they’ve been all over Wichita Falls in the past few months. As stated in a recent press release:

Nighthawks players give it up for their city. - All season long the Nighthawks players have generously given their time to help out our local organizations in need - Habitat for Humanity, Family YMCA, Sheppard Air Force Base, Cunningham Elementary, Washington Jackson Elementary, Fain Elementary, WFISD, Boy Scouts, American Cancer Society, Top of Texas Football, Special Olympics, Fashions Night Out, Volunteer Fire Department, Downtown Proud!, Pride in the Falls, CVB, High School Football programs, Rolling Meadows , The Junior League of Wichita Falls, The Wichita Falls Chamber of Commerce, Kids Fest and Patsy’s House.

Now it’s time for us to give back and support them in their championship game!

This Sunday will also contain an epic showdown, with Swoop, the Nighthawks’ mascot, going up against Drillbit, the Driller’s mascot. This comes at a time when Swoop has been getting a lot of attention. He’s being investigated for the slaughter of eleven football teams, and has also been seen driving around town on a scooter. Perhaps this championship game will show a resolution to the video below.
