Wichita Falls Police Arrest Suspect in String of Arson Cases and Burglaries
The Wichita Falls Police Department has made an arrest in connection with a string of burglaries and arson cases here in Wichita Falls.
A total of four arson cases were committed between November of 2020 and November of 2021.
Three of the cases occurred at Waterford Glen Apartments, located at 4201 Cedar Elm Lane. The first fire was started in November of 2020, followed by fires in August and October of 2021.
The final arson case happened in November of 2021 at Arbor Creek Apartments at 4000 Weeks Park Lane.
Items were stolen from each of the apartments prior to them being set on fire.
31-year-old David Cannon was arrested by detectives with the WFPD Crimes Against Property unit and charged with two counts of Burglary of a Habitation after admitting to committing the burglaries and setting the apartments on fire.
Cannon confessed to the crimes while being interviewed following an arrest on unrelated charges.
The police began to suspect Cannon committed the crimes after he pawned several items that fit the description of items stolen during the burglaries.
Detectives discovered more property that was stolen during the burglaries while executing a search warrant at Cannon’s residence.
Cannon’s bond has been set at $300,000 for the two burglary charges. More charges are expected to be filed in the coming days.
A joint investigation between the WFPD Crimes Against Property Detectives, the WFPD Special Operations Unit, the Wichita Falls Fire Department Arson Investigators, and the Midwestern State University Police Department led to Cannon’s arrest.
