Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith Had an Intervention Due to Jaden “Wasting Away” From Vegan Diet
Will Smith held a family meeting on the latest episode of Red Table Talk, which premiered on Monday (Sept. 23). For the episode, Will's his wife Jada Pinkett Smith, her mother, Adrienne Banfield-Jones, and Will and Jada's children Willow Smith, Trey Smith and Jaden, all shared their private struggles with food and diet.
During the episode, Jada said she and Will had to help Jaden get on the road to better health because he was suffering side effects of a vegan diet.
“Will and I had a bit of an intervention with Jaden because he's a vegan now, but we realized he wasn't getting enough protein,” she explained. “So he was wasting away. He just looked drained, he was just depleted, he wasn't getting the nutrients.”
Will added because Jaden wasn’t getting the proper nutrients, so he looked unhealthy. “There was even a little grayness to his skin,” the Bad Boys 3 star stated. “We got really nervous. But you're definitely looking better now.”
Jaden then clarified that he’s a vegetarian now but when he was vegan, he wasn’t keeping track of what he was eating daily.
“I also just wanna say that I'm a vegetarian, that I've tried to be vegan,” he explained. “I'm vegetarian, you know, I've tried to eat vegan meals. I'll go vegan for a week or so but for the past year I've been vegetarian.”
“I was just eating like two meals a day...maybe one,” he continued. “Maybe just that one big meal and I'm like, ‘Oh, you know, I didn't get around to it.’”
