Dead Man Won’t Be Charged For Failing To Appear For Jury Duty

Many of us have been called for jury duty. When I’ve been called to serve, I’ve actually been interested in the process, yet some people will go to great lengths to get out of the task. A Massachusetts man may have the best excuse of all – he’s dead! Now officials know why he hasn't appeared for duty all these years.

It seems that Michael Wylie was facing a criminal complaint by the state. The problem isn’t a recent one, however; Wylie has been dead for 5 years. His family states that they let officials know he was deceased, but officials claim the family never sent a death certificate.

Now the state is saying they won’t proceed with the criminal complaint. Oh, how nice of them. I’d like to know how they would proceed otherwise…
