The whole holiday season is not normally considered a time of healthy food and exercise - that's probably why the majority of us make a new year resolution to lose weight! But there is a ray of sunshine in the chaos of the holidays - you walk around a lot. Does Christmas shopping count as exercise?

A new study found Christmas shopping is a surprisingly good workout. The average person will burn about 1,500 calories over the next month going store to store and running through the mall.  And that only counts the calories you burn from walking . . . NOT the extra ones you burned throwing elbows and battling for killer deals on Black Friday!

So make sure you stretch before you go out shopping and dress in appropriate clothing - and don't reward yourself with too many Cinnabons.
