I always get sucked into watching the Olympics, but I never really thought about this before. Do they compete just for honor and glory? Maybe...but they also get paid. How much do Olympians get for winning a medal? It really depends on which medal they get and where they are from.

If you are from the United States and win a Gold Medal you'll get $25,000. For a Silver you get $15,000 and a Bronze will earn you $10,000.

Russia pays their athletes $113,200 for a Gold, Canada pays $17,900 for a gold, and Malaysia would give $600,000 for a Gold Medal but they haven't won since the 50's.

If you are from England you are just competing for the glory and fame since they don't offer any money for winning.
