Superman Gets A New Mom
A few weeks ago we reported the casting of Henry Cavill as the new Superman. Other than Cavill, there hadn't been any confirmed castings. Kevin Coster is rumored for the role of Jonathan "Pa" Kent and Viggo Mortensen for the role of Zod.
Now we have the second confirmed casting. The role is Martha "Ma" Kent goes to Oscar nominated acress Diane Lane. Of the casting, director Zack Snyder said,
“This was a very important piece of casting for me because Martha Kent is the woman whose values helped shape the man we know as Superman. We are thrilled to have Diane in the role because she can convey the wisdom and the wonder of a woman whose son has powers beyond her imagination.”
I'm really happy about this casting. I've been a fan of Diane Lane for years. But what is up with making Ma Kent a hottie?! For over 70 years, Martha Kent has always been the sweet, silver haired, old lady. With Annette O'Toole's run on "Smallville", Martha Kent was given youth and sex appeal. And now Diane Lane is bringing even more of that to the table.
