With the Summer approaching, it seems more challenging than ever to spend the quality time one would choose to with family and loved ones. I feel ultimately one of the most gratifying ways to spend a bit of your time, as an individual or as a family, is working in the community as a volunteer, giving back and helping other individuals and deserving families in our very own hometown.

There are many organizations here in Wichita Falls that offer a variety of volunteer opportunities, from a day of support to weeks of contributing, depending on your personal availability. Here are 3 of my favorite organizations always looking for a helping hand and so deserve and adore any support.

Habitat for Humanity of Wichita Falls

Habitat for Humanity of Wichita Falls

Habitat for Humanity is a Christian housing ministry committed to putting God's love into action.  We strive to bring people together to build homes, communities, and hope.  Our goal is to eliminate poverty housing in Wichita County. They are so very grateful and proud of all the wonderful volunteers who contribute to Habitat for Humanity.  Without them not one home would be built and families in our community would still be in unthinkable living situations.

P.E.T.S. is a Wichita Falls Non-Profit Pet Clinic. We are a 501c3 tax exempt non-profit corporation formed in April 2007 to combat the over population of unwanted pets in Wichita Falls, TX, and surrounding communities.

Volunteering is one of the most rewarding jobs at P.E.T.S. It is all due to the dedication of our incredible and committed volunteers that we are able to host surgery clinics.

If you are looking for Wichita Falls Volunteer opportunities, there are any number of ways to volunteer with P.E.T.S. Clinic volunteer duties range from checking patients in and out, sterilizing equipment, to monitoring animals as they wake from surgery. We always need supplies prepared, laundry done, and dogs walked, too. No matter what your talent we have a job for you.

CASA....Child Advocates of the Red River

When a child enters the foster care system because his or her home is no longer safe, a judge may appoint a committed volunteer to help them. That volunteer is called a Court Appointed Special Advocate®, or CASA.

CASA volunteers are screened and highly trained and then appointed by judges to represent and advocate for a child’s best interests in the child protection system. CASA volunteers are each assigned to help one child or set of siblings at a time, so they can focus on giving that child or sibling group the individualized advocacy and attention they need. CASA volunteers save taxpayers money and children’s futures by helping children find a safe, permanent homes as soon as possible.
