Fire Forces Detours On US 287

Firefighters have been battling a large wildfire on the Clay/Montague County line early this afternoon.  Officials say the fire started between Cray Road and Manton Road and was growing rapidly.  Heavy smoke across US 287 forced officials to close the highway to both north and southbound traffic.  Detours have been put into place.  The cause of the fire has not been determined.
