Katy Perry Surpasses Justin Bieber as Most Popular Celebrity on Social Media

In a move that will surely upset droves of Beliebers, Katy Perry has surpassed Justin Bieber on both Facebook and Twitter.

Over the weekend, Katy Perry moved up to 46.55 million followers on Twitter, besting Beiber’s total of 46.52 million.  As for Facebook, Perry’s likes shot up to 59.27 million, beating out Beiber’s 57.28 million.  In an interview with USA Today, Perry joked about her strategy for social media, citing horrible typos and grammar.  However, one thing you won’t see Perry doing is using Facebook or Twitter to shoot down media rumors about herself, a practice she feels other celebs should follow,

I see a lot of celebrities send out messages like that online and I think, ‘Sweetheart, nobody knows about this so-called issue because we don’t have you on Google Alert. You’re just throwing another log on the fire.’ I do it only in extreme cases if someone is jeopardizing my character.
