Three Storm Chasers Killed in Crash Near Spur, Texas
Two drivers and one passenger, all identified as storm chasers, were killed in a crash just west of Spur, TX when one of the vehicles ran a stop sign.
Department of Public Safety officials were called to a crash at FM 2794 at FM 1081 where two storm chasing vehicles had collided. According to officials, a black suburban was traveling down FM 1081 and blew through the stop sign, colliding with a black jeep going down FM 2794.
According to KCBD, 57-year-old Kelley Gene Williamson, of Cassville, Mo. was driving the suburban that ran the stop sign with 55-year-old Randall Delane Yarnall, also of Cassville, in the passenger seat. 25-year-old Corbin Lee Jaeger, of Peoria, Arizona was identified as the driver of the Jeep. All three were pronounced dead at the scene, with Williamson having been ejected from the vehicle due to not wearing a seat belt.
As Williamson and Yarnall worked with The Weather Channel, the company issued a statement,
This afternoon we learned that three people died in a car accident in Texas, including two contractors for the Weather Channel, Kelley Williamson and Randy Yarnall. Kelley and Randy were beloved members of the weather community. We are saddened by this loss and our deepest sympathies go out to the families and loved ones of all involved.
