Some people will do anything for a buck. It’s especially true in the past month or so since the 100th anniversary of the Titanic’s sinking is just days away. Restaurants are selling Titanic-themed meals for over $1,000, memorabilia from the ship is going up for auction, and now a home is being sold that may house the ghost of the Titanic’s captain.

The property is in the town of Stoke-on-Trent in England, and was the childhood home of Captain Edward John Smith. The owners originally shelled out $55,000 for the home, and since purchasing it they’ve rented it out. They’ve been told by their tenants that things go bump in the night, so naturally it must be the ill-fated captain.

Now the owners are asking for $126,000 for the home, quite a jump from what they paid for it. They’ve noted that they’re not getting many offers.

If I were to haunt a place, it probably wouldn’t be my childhood home. It would be the bar or a friend’s house… someplace I could really mess with people and have fun with it.

Would you purchase a home, knowing that it may be haunted?
