Criterium Races Going Down Hotter’N Hell Weekend in Wichita Falls, Texas
The 100 mile ride for the Hotter'N Hell Hundred gets all the headlines for the weekend, but get ready for cycling races the whole weekend.
Pablo Joins Me in the Studio to Talk Hotter'N Hell Hundred
Thanks to Bicycle ER, we're once again broadcasting live from the starting line of the Hotter'N Hell Hundred. We will be there live for the kickoff of the 100 mile ride on August 24th. However, the Hotter'N Hell Hundred wants to remind folks the big ride is not the only event that weekend. They have other events going on that cyclists will love.
A big event that Pablo came into the studio to talk about with me today is the Criterium races that will be taking part throughout parts of downtown Wichita Falls. Just because the ride is over on Saturday, this does not mean all of downtown is back to being opened. If you see roads closed on Sunday, it's most likely for the Criterium races. Pablo encourages folks to come on out and cheer the racers on. Plus, many downtown businesses will be open with food and drinks for you to enjoy. You can get info for where the races will be and registration at the Hotter'N Hell website.
Pace Group is BACK for 2024 Hotter'N Hell Hundred
Here is something I learned today that I haven't seen in years at the Hotter'N Hell Hundred. The pace group is back. These cyclists will be attempting to finish the 100 mile ride in under 5 hours. Which sounds like the ultimate test. Pablo said you will need to keep a pace of around 21 mph and only do one of the rest stops along the route. You essentially do 60 miles straight, take a rest, then finish the final 40 miles. You can click that link above for more info on that.
As always with the Hotter'N Hell Hundred, be prepared for some extra traffic in downtown Wichita Falls. The committee encourages you to come check out the entire weekend of events. They have a lot to offer for the fans and the riders as well.
