Girls have been allowed to compete in high school wrestling tournaments along side their male peers for over 20 years but yesterday, Cassey Herkelman was the first female to win the Iowa State Wrestling Championships....by forfeit.

Cassey's opponent, Joel Northup, withdrew from the match, leaving Cassey to win the title.

"As a matter of conscience and faith, I do not believe that it is appropriate for a boy to engage a girl in this manner. It is unfortunate that I have been placed in a situation not seen in most other high school sports in Iowa."

Wow!  What an amazing statement from this young man.  But Joel's not done at the championships and he may have to face another female competitor.  Find out more at via Yahoo! Sports.
