The Comanche Red River Casino Hotel in Devol has opened a new restaurant inspired by one of Oklahoma's historical landmarks. On Oct. 1, the casino officially opened Star House, a restaurant serving Oklahoma favorites while honoring the Quanah Parker Star House.

The restaurant's namesake, the Quanah Parker Star House, is located in Cache and was the home of Comanche leader Quanah Parker. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1970.

The restaurant will also celebrate Oklahoma's tradition by the state's favorite dishes, like chicken fried steak and onion burgers. The menu also includes American classics, steak, seafood, sandwiches, salads, and desserts. Star House is also a restaurant for the whole family, offering a dedicated kid's menu.

According to a press release, the restaurant's name and the menu are intended to draw a connection "to Comanche history while creating a modern gathering place for today's guests."

"We wanted Star House to be a place that feels welcoming to everyone - a place where you can come for a great meal, meet friends, bring the family or enjoy a drink after a day at the casino," said Sterling Ticeahkie, General Manager, in a press release. "At the same time, the name gives us an opportunity to recognize an important part of Oklahoma and Comanche history."

That's a common belief in communities near every dam in America. I've heard it from North Carolina all the way to Arizona. It's just a myth. Here are some more wildly incorrect Oklahoma beliefs.
