A San Antonio police officer has been terminated after five-years on the force after bragging he'd served a sandwich with feces in it to a homeless person.

Officer Matthew Luckhurst was reported to internal affairs in July after bragging to a fellow officer that he'd placed a piece of poop between two slices of bread, putting the sandwich into a styrofoam container, and leaving it next to an unidentified homeless man. The officer who reported the incident said he told Luckhurst to return to the homeless man and dispose of the container. While the homeless person was never located, Chief Willaim McManus and two boards made up of citizens and police officers decided that an indefinite suspension was a proper punishment for Luckhurst. In a statement, Chief McManus said,

This was a vile and disgusting act that violates our guiding principles of ‘treating all with integrity, compassion, fairness and respect. The fact that his fellow officers were so disgusted with his actions that they reported him to Internal Affairs demonstrates that this type of behavior will never be tolerated. The action of this one former officer in no way reflects the actions of all the other good men and women who respectfully serve this community.

My San Antonio reached out to Luckhurst for comment, but was told by Luckhurst he'd been instructed by his attorney to not speak to the press. Luckhurst's attorney, Ben Sifuentes, says that his client never did give a poo sandwich to a homeless person, and that it was a joke that went out of control. As there are no witnesses to the event and the homeless man in question was never located, Situentes is convinced that Luckhurst will be exonerated.
