It’s never a good idea to outrun the police.  However, if you are going to try to get away from law enforcement, then at least use something faster than a bicycle.  One Wichita Falls man is now in custody after he tried to outrun law enforcement, while riding his bicycle.

Last Tuesday, around 2:30 AM, police tried to stop Brandon Bales, after an officer witnessed him riding his bicycle on the wrong side of the road, into oncoming traffic on Jasper near 26th Street.  When Bales saw police, he immediately veered off onto a nearby bike trail along Holiday Creek.  When he came to a downhill slope, Bales lost control, and ended up crashing his bike in the creek.

As soon as officers arrived at the scene, Bales got up and tried to outrun the police on foot.  Even though he was ordered to stop, Bales pretty much ignored the officer’s commands, and proceeded to run off into a wooded area.  Once the officer called in for backup, law enforcement was able to locate Bales hiding in the trees, and proceeded to take him into custody.

After being taken to the hospital to treat his injuries, Bales was booked into the Wichita County Jail.  Not only was he charged with evading arrest, but the police discovered that he had several outstanding warrants.  In fact, he has been taken into custody 36 times in the past 30 years, and has been arrested on a variety of different charges ranging from assault to burglary.  I guess that this is just another charge to add to his long list of charges against him.
