Look Straight Up a Spinning Funnel Cloud over Illinois
It's a fascinating sight, but I'm not certain that I'd like to be the person seeing it. New video shows a spinning funnel cloud over Illinois and the viewpoint is straight up into the whirling vortex.
As storms moved through the St. Louis, Missouri and southern Illinois area over the weekend, Dan Robinson grabbed his camera and went out to investigate. Here's what he said about his adventure which he just shared on YouTube:
Scenes from storms in the St. Louis area on May 14, 2023: Looking straight up at a non-tornadic funnel near Fayetteville, Illinois. Later, slow-motion video of upward and downward lightning strikes in St. Louis.
Here's the compelling viewpoint that Dan witnessed. He noted that this funnel was part of a storm that was non-tornadic, so no real danger here. Just a remarkable cloud view near Fayetteville, Illinois.
Ever look straight up into a funnel cloud? It's quite a sight.
Dan's capture of the lightning strike near the Gateway Arch was breathtaking.
This is why Dan Robinson is more than worth a follow on YouTube as he's one of the best storm photographers/videographers in the Midwest.
