Did you recently get a ticket in the mail? This may make you think twice about paying it.

I know here in Wichita Falls we don't have a lot of red light cameras. Actually, do we have any? I know this is more of a problem over in the Metroplex, especially Denton. When I go visit my family, I feel like every other light has a red light camera on it. I learned this week that these actually cause more harm than good. Accidents increase because people will slam on their breaks at these lights to avoid a traffic ticket.

According to Trash Your Ticket's website, that is exactly what they want you to do. Throw that ticket in the trash. I know we all don't want to get in trouble, but we also don't want to pay an unnecessary ticket. They have a lot of info talking about how you won't get in trouble.

For instance, if you don't pay the ticket, it will not affect your credit score. A Texas judge has declared these red light cameras illegal. The tickets they mention are the red light cameras, speed cameras and the school bus cameras.

Apparently, traffic camera tickets are considered civil violations, not a conviction. Under section 707 of the Texas Transportation code, if you fail to pay the penalty for a civil violation such as a red light camera ticket, an arrest warrant may NOT be issued, it will NOT be recorded on your driving record, and it will NOT be reported to your insurance or the driver's license bureau.

This is just something I found interesting and it is totally up to you if you want to try it. Hopefully, this isn't too good to be true.
