I was very excited when I heard the Farrelly brothers were working on a Three Stooges film.  After movies like "Dumb and Dumber", "Kingpin", and "Stuck On You", I figured they would be the best suited to bring Moe, Larry, and Curly to the big screen.  Originally set to star Benicio Del Toro (Moe), Sean Penn (Larry), and Jim Carrey (Curly), pre-production stalled to the point that all three actors had to leave the project.  They were replaced by Chris Diamantopoulos, Sean Hayes, and Will Sasso.  Production is wrapped, the movie is set for a mid-2012 release, and now we have the first official trailer.  Not sure if that's a good thing yet.

Let me be perfectly clear, I'm not expecting a terrific movie.  The premise alone warrants me seeing this as a matinee IF I even see it in theaters.  Bringing the vaudeville act into modern times is interesting, but a very difficult thing play off after the countless "fish out of water" films we've had since the Stooges were in their prime.  The trailer is pretty much what I expected.  This movie is for the fans of the Stooges and no one else.  If their slapstick humor isn't your cup of tea, don't even bother trying to see this.  All three leads seem to do an incredible job imitating the originals, with Will Sasso being the obvious stand out.  The trailer was going on fairly well, doing throw backs to original Stooges short films, and then the Stooges went Jersey on us.  Now I feel the need to cry.
