See Photos From the 2017 T.H.O.R. Mud Run in Wichita Falls

What is T.H.O.R.? According to Norse mythology, Thor was a hammer wielding god associated with lightning, thunder, storms and oak trees.

If you ask any of the 1,600 or so participants in last Saturday’s T.H.O.R. event they’ll tell you it’s a muddy good time!

Actually, T.H.O.R., which stands for Texoma’s Hellacious Obstacle Run, is an annual event benefiting Leadership Wichita Falls and Wichita Falls Streams & Valleys. The run starts in Lucy Park, makes its way across the Wichita River, then follows the Wee-Chi-Tah trail through twists, turns, hills, valleys, several obstacles placed along the path just for the event, eventually coming back across the Wichita River and passing through a section called The Gauntlet before the runners, muddy and wet, collapse happily onto the furniture awaiting them.

I was asked to help photograph the event this year and had an absolute blast! Maybe the photos will encourage you to sign up for T.H.O.R. next year!
